A somewhat smaller steel bridge.
This bridge across the Rideau River served a small industrial centre in the village of Andrewsville.
Machine Shop, Bear Creek near Dawson
This was all part of the infrastructure to maintain the dredges operating the river bottoms. in the surrounding area. A broken part could bring operations to a halt and there was no time to wait for replacements parts thousands of kilometers to the south. The machine shop workers either repaired the part or fabricated a new one.

Cultural Landscape, Rideau Canal, Ottawa, Ontario
This section of the canal was a rather stark industrial landscape until the early 20th Century. The canal was bordered bt piles of coal, sheds of all shapes and sizes and a dry dock.

In the immediate foreground looking across the lagoon is the causeway complete with trash barrel; the Panamanian freighter is about a kilometer beyond the causeway in the "Royal Roads" anchorage. In the background the tops of the Olympic Mountains in the state of Washington across the Salish Sea.
